I enjoy listening to music in my spare time and in general
prefer songs with meaningful lyrics. Of course, I also
listen to the disco and some pop songs from time to time...
I am learning how to play guitar but unfortunately, do not
have much time for that at the moment :( ...
My favorite singer/poet from the past is Valdimir Visotsky
(site in english),
(site in russian).
His songs are still relevant even after more than 20 years from his death.
Though there are translations of his lyrics, I think it's a good
occasion for you to learn Russian to understand his and other
great Russian poets' lyrics!
Another great Russian poet, composer and singer from the past (whose
political songs very likely costed him his life)
is Igor Talkov.

Also, I like songs by Alexander Malinin,
Alexander Rozenbaum, Andrei Makarevich,
DDT, LUBE, etc.
I also love some parody songs by OSP studio about those numerous
so-called "popstars"!
